Define the essence of your hotel in one word:
Inspiration.
Tell us what inspired you to create such a magical place as Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa:
In the sensations created by the combination of the Serra de Tramuntana and the Mediterranean. We feel very privileged to be in such a location, it’s hard not to feel inspired in every corner of the hotel.
The landscapes surrounding us are truly impressive, they invite you to immerse yourself in the atmosphere. The scent of the orange trees, the Mediterranean breeze, the warmth of the sun… it’s a place that awakens all the senses.
Broadly speaking, what experience will a guest enjoy when staying at the hotel?
The only concern our guests should have is to enjoy the surroundings. We have a team that gives their very best to create stays that exceed expectations. They make sure to personalize each experience from the moment of arrival, getting to know the guest, their tastes, wishes, and what they want to experience during their stay, helping them feel connected to this part of Mallorca.
Since the hotel is located atop a spectacular cliff, what challenges did such a privileged location entail?
In the 1960s there was a hotel here called Atalaya Club. We have photos of the old property displayed in our “Blue Corridor,” as we like to show where we come from.
Today, building in such a place would be unthinkable. It was a very complex project to rebuild the space while respecting the environment and ensuring minimal environmental impact. Until 2012, several projects had started but never finished due to the complexity of the work. Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts identified the potential of the site and invested the time needed to make the project a reality.
The hotel is located in one of the most idyllic places in our geography, the island of Mallorca. Where do you like to escape to in your free time?
Without a doubt, Torrent des Pareis. It’s the closest thing to paradise on earth that I’ve ever seen. Moreover, the journey there is an adventure and a visual spectacle in itself. You access it through a narrow road that winds through the mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana until it reaches the sea.
The hotel exudes pure tranquility and features a large spa similar to the one at Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai, which has received several awards. What defines this spa area?
Our Talise Spa has also been awarded multiple times, in fact, 2020 marked the fifth consecutive year we received the award for Best Luxury Spa in Spain by the World Spa Awards.
Having these facilities is something truly exclusive, 2,000 m² of thermal circuit and treatment rooms that offer an authentic experience of wellness and personal rediscovery.
Recently, we incorporated the Sodashi line into our treatment menu. We are the only hotel in Spain to offer it. It’s a vegan line from Australia that reflects our desire to reconnect with nature and the essential elements.
Let’s talk about gastronomy, the hotel has three restaurants, two of them with Mediterranean and Mallorcan inspiration. What menu would you choose to celebrate a special day?
Without a doubt, a seafood paella at Cap Roig Brasserie, it’s a true delight, not to mention the views and the setting. Cap Roig is our most representative restaurant, our goal is for it to become the best seafood restaurant on the island. To achieve this, we are working on a “from the Mediterranean to the table” concept.
On the other hand, Sunset Lounge offers an international and relaxed dining experience. It features Nikkei-inspired cuisine, a fusion of Asian and Peruvian influences, prepared with the finest local ingredients and accompanied by an extensive cocktail selection.
Finally, Es Fanals by Javier Soriano is our signature restaurant. It showcases Mallorcan gastronomy through a menu that tells the story of the island’s culinary tradition. Our chef changes the menu according to the season, so each visit reveals a new story.
What do you think the tourist of the future will be like?
The new tourist will demand very high technological and sustainability standards. They will likely prioritize flexibility over price and favor natural, peaceful spaces.
But beyond identifiable trends, the new tourist will be who we choose to attract. One positive outcome of recent years is that the hospitality industry was forced to pause. It has been a time of deep reflection, allowing us to reconsider how tourism has evolved, where we want it to go, and how we can individually contribute to that goal. It’s in our hands to decide the kind of tourism we want in our establishments and to ensure that everything we do aligns with that purpose.
If you were a guest, what would you appreciate most about the hotel?
The infinity pool is one of the places our guests admire most, as well as the gastronomic experiences. However, Jumeirah Port Soller is a place that invites you to reassess your priorities, rediscover yourself, and connect with your surroundings in the present moment. That feeling of inspiration would be what I would highlight the most.
And finally, why Mallorca?
Traveling is something truly special. It’s not about how many places we can say we’ve visited or about ticking destinations off a list. The magic of traveling lies in who you are, or who you become, when you are there.
We live in an era defined by the value of experiences. The most important thing a trip can give us is how it makes us feel. And Mallorca makes you feel free.
