Errica Psimopoulou is the General Manager of Summer Senses Luxury Resort and a professional passionate about hospitality based on authenticity, personalized attention, and meticulous care. In this interview, she shares her vision of contemporary luxury, the essence of Paros, and the importance of creating experiences that connect travelers to the destination through their senses.
What does luxury mean to you, and how is that vision reflected in the experience offered at Summer Senses Luxury Resort?
For me, luxury has stopped being about excess a long time ago. It’s about ease, authenticity, and attention — the feeling that everything around you has been considered, without ever feeling staged. At Summer Senses, that translates into details that guests may not consciously notice but instinctively feel: the timing of a welcome drink, a cocktail crafted off-menu around the guest’s personal taste, a team that remembers a preference from the first conversation. True luxury today is the freedom to simply be present, while everything else is quietly taken care of.
Summer Senses offers an experience inspired by the senses. How is this concept transformed into real and memorable moments for guests?
We built the resort around the idea that a holiday should be felt, not just seen. So every space is designed to engage a different sense: the sight of the Aegean sea and Cycladic villages, the sound of water from our infinity pools and the music playing at our bar, the scent of Aegean herbs along a pathway, the taste of a dish built around what’s in season, the moment a guest is being cared for during a spa treatment. It’s never one grand gesture, it’s a sequence of small, sensory cues throughout the day that together create a memory guests associate purely with Summer Senses.
How would you describe the essence of Summer Senses, and what do you believe sets the resort apart within the luxury hospitality landscape of the Greek islands?
If I had to summarize it in one idea: intimacy without compromise. We are not a resort that impresses through scale — we impress through precision and warmth. What sets us apart is the balance between a very personal, almost residential style of hospitality and the standards guests expect from international luxury travel. Guests are recognized, not processed. That balance is difficult to achieve and, I believe, it’s what keeps people coming back.
Paros has become one of the Mediterranean’s most sought-after destinations. How can a hotel help preserve the island’s authenticity while meeting the expectations of international travelers?
It starts with restraint. A hotel doesn’t need to import an idea of luxury from elsewhere — Paros already has its own language: Cycladic architecture, local materials, a slower rhythm of life. Our role is to translate that into a five-star experience rather than replace it with something generic. We work with local producers, local craftsmen, local architecture codes, and we encourage guests to explore the island rather than stay purely within our walls. Authenticity and international standards aren’t in conflict, the challenge is designing an experience where one elevates the other.
Gastronomy plays an important role in the resort experience. How significant are local produce, Greek tradition and contemporary creativity within your culinary offering?
Gastronomy is central to how we tell the story of Paros. Our approach starts with produce — vegetables from island growers, fish from local fishermen, cheese and wine from small Cycladic producers — and builds contemporary technique on top of that foundation, never the other way around. This comes to life differently across the resort: Gaia, our all-day
restaurant, keeps things relaxed and rooted in Greek tradition, while Galazia Hytra, our fine dining venue, brings more creativity and refinement to the same local ingredients. We want guests to recognise Greek tradition in every dish, but experience it through a more refined, modern lens.
Wellness is becoming increasingly important for luxury travelers. How does Summer Senses respond to this desire to rest, reconnect and restore personal balance?
Wellness, for us, isn’t confined to a spa menu — it’s embedded in the entire rhythm of a stay. Guests arrive from demanding lives and what they’re really seeking is permission to slow down. We support that through thoughtfully designed treatments rooted in Mediterranean ingredients, movement and mindfulness sessions surrounded by nature, and simply space, architecturally and emotionally, for guests to disconnect from routine. Sometimes the most powerful wellness offering is an uninterrupted view of the sea and nowhere to be.
How has the profile of the luxury traveler evolved in recent years, and what are guests currently looking for when choosing a destination such as Paros?
Today’s luxury traveler is less interested in visible status and far more interested in meaning. They want privacy, but also genuine connection to the place they’re visiting. They research deeply before they travel, they value sustainability and authenticity, and they’re often seeking transformation rather than simple relaxation — an experience that leaves them
changed in some small way. Paros suits this new mindset perfectly: it offers sophistication without excess, and a sense of discovery that’s becoming rare in more saturated destinations.
As General Manager, what is your leadership philosophy, and which values do you aim to transmit to your team on a daily basis?
I believe hospitality is a reflection of the team delivering it — you cannot ask staff to create warmth and generosity for guests if they don’t experience it themselves internally. My philosophy centers on trust, consistency and care: towards each other and towards the guests. The values I try to instill every day are attentiveness, humility and pride in the small details, because in luxury hospitality, it’s almost always the small details that guests remember most. Every single staff member has the ability to make an impact on the experience and memories of our guests, so everything matters.
Which experience, place or moment at Summer Senses would you particularly recommend to someone visiting the resort for the first time?
I would always recommend an evening at Galazia Hytra, our fine dining restaurant. It’s where every element of Summer Senses comes together in one sitting — the produce, the setting, the service, the view, it is a unique experience.
When you need to disconnect, what is your favorite place in Paros, and what does it mean to you personally?
I love going for an early morning swim at my favorite beach, before anyone else is around. There’s almost no one in sight, just the sand, the sea and complete peace. It’s a simple ritual, but it’s my way of reconnecting and starting the day fresh.
