Louis Vuitton and the Bakhoor ritual: perfume, design and art of living in an exclusive set

Louis Vuitton presents an exclusive interpretation of the Bakhoor ritual, an ancestral Middle Eastern tradition that combines perfume, design and the art of living. This initiative highlights the exceptional quality of oud in selected fragments, a raw material exclusive to the Maison, paying tribute to the olfactory and cultural history of aromatic combustion.

The launch is part of Louis Vuitton’s exploration of integrating cultural and artisanal elements into its luxury universe, offering a sensory and aesthetic experience that transcends conventional perfume. The proposal becomes a reference for the international luxury magazine, combining tradition and modernity in a refined design object.

The collaboration with designer Nada Debs shapes a luxury set that includes an incense burner, a presentation box for the oud fragments, special tongs and 20 grams of oud wood from Bangladesh. Inspired by the desert and its shifting nuances of light, Debs creates a motif that evokes organic dunes, reflecting the connection between nature and craftsmanship.

The burner and presentation box, assembled by hand, combine walnut wood, brass accents and the emblematic taurillon leather used in Louis Vuitton’s Capucines bags, in stone, leather and chocolate tones. This fusion of noble materials and artisanal techniques underscores the excellence and contemporary elegance that characterize the Maison.

The oud, described by master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud as a fragrance “woody, spicy and ambery, with exceptional finesse and depth,” is presented in fragments selected for their density and dark tones, indicators of a high concentration of aromatic resin. This raw material exclusive to Louis Vuitton is the olfactory heart of the set, inviting a rediscovery of perfume as an art of living.

The Bakhoor ritual, which involves placing the oud wood on embers to release a perfumed smoke that permeates spaces and honors guests, is reinterpreted here as a sensory and cultural experience, integrating design and functionality into a luxury object intended for contemporary spaces.

The set is presented in a lacquered wooden box with gold metal details, whose dimensions and finishes reflect the meticulousness and care in each element. The pieces, with precise measurements and selected materials, offer a complete experience that transcends the simple use of perfume, becoming a symbol of sophistication and respect for traditions.

This Louis Vuitton proposal not only expands its offering in the realm of perfume but also establishes a dialogue between cultures and eras, positioning itself as a reference in the global Luxury Magazine for those who value authenticity and innovation in luxury.

The Louis Vuitton Bakhoor set stands out for its exclusivity and quality, with oud wood sourced from Bangladesh and a design that integrates noble materials such as walnut, brass and taurillon leather. The collaboration with Nada Debs brings artistic and cultural value that enriches the proposal, consolidating it as a collectible object within the luxury universe.

This launch represents a milestone in the reinterpretation of ancestral rituals through contemporary design, positioning Louis Vuitton as a key player in the innovation and preservation of olfactory traditions, with an approach that combines craftsmanship, culture and elegance.

With this creation, Louis Vuitton reaffirms its commitment to excellence, innovation and respect for cultural traditions, offering a luxury experience that transcends time and the senses.
