Morgan Motor Company has unveiled the Midsummer Coupé, a closed-top and particularly exclusive interpretation of its coachbuilt project developed with Pininfarina. The new creation transfers the handcrafted language, lightness and visual personality of the original Morgan Midsummer to a coupé format, conceived as a limited run of 50 units. The Midsummer was born from the collaboration between the design teams at Morgan and Pininfarina, two names linked by a long tradition of bespoke bodywork and highly personal approaches to automotive elegance. The project revives the idea of a car built with meticulous attention to detail, where contemporary technique coexists with manual processes and materials that refer back to the heritage of the British marque.The main novelty of the Midsummer Coupé lies in its fixed-roof silhouette, which offers a different reading of the model’s fluid, sculptural proportions. The body retains a low, elongated presence, with surfaces worked to highlight the combination of hand-formed aluminium and wood, one of the defining traits of the Morgan universe. Wood, historically used by the Malvern firm in the structure of its vehicles, acquires an expressive role in the Midsummer. Beyond its constructive function, it is integrated as a visible element of the aesthetic proposal, establishing a dialogue between the organic character of this material and the precision of the metal panels. It is an uncommon approach in contemporary automotive design and one that is especially coherent with the brand’s savoir-faire. The model is based on Morgan’s CX-Generation aluminium platform and retains the lightweight philosophy that characterises the firm’s most purist creations.
