Els Tinars, a journey to the gastronomic heart of the Costa Brava

In a restored Catalan masía just minutes from the Costa Brava lies Els Tinars, an icon of Mediterranean gastronomy. Located in Llagostera (Girona), the restaurant holds one Michelin star, two Repsol suns, and is recommended by the Macarfi Guide. Since 2008, it has maintained its Michelin star, a testament to its commitment to excellence, product quality, and the authenticity of its cuisine.

Led by the third generation of the Gascons family, with chef Marc Gascons at the helm of the kitchen and Elena Gascons overseeing the dining room. This year, Marc Gascons received the “Signature Cuisine” Award from the Catalan Academy of Gastronomy and Nutrition, a distinction that reinforces his position as a leading figure in contemporary Catalan gastronomy.

The culinary proposal at Els Tinars is rooted in Catalan tradition and the quality of local products. The menu changes with the seasons, incorporating proximity ingredients such as fresh fish from the Palamós fish market, local mushrooms, seasonal vegetables, and selected meats. Among its most iconic dishes are the Palamós prawn tartare, the dry rice dishes with mushrooms, and the classic surf-and-turf combinations, a hallmark of the house.

In addition to its culinary offering, Els Tinars stands out for its hospitality and its meticulous attention to every detail of the experience. The team, led by Elena Gascons, provides warm yet professional service that complements the excellence of the cuisine. The carefully curated wine cellar features an extensive selection of Catalan, Spanish, and international wines, designed to pair harmoniously with each dish.

Located on the road between Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Girona, Els Tinars offers a peaceful and welcoming setting. Its renovated masía blends traditional elements with a modern, light-filled interior design, along with a garden terrace that is ideal during the warmer months.

The philosophy of Marc and Elena Gascons is built on a balance of tradition, technique, and warmth. Every dish reflects a deep respect for the region and a commitment to honest cuisine, where top-quality ingredients take center stage. This approach has made Els Tinars an essential stop on the gastronomic route of Girona and the Costa Brava, as well as one of the leading references in Catalan cuisine, keeping its roots alive while embracing innovation.
